Ann received her master’s degree in speech-language pathology at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, MI. There she gained extensive clinical experience working with pediatric patients in a number of settings including schools, early intervention, hospitals, and private clinics. She has been invited to join as an SLP for multiple summers at Camp Shout Out, a nationally-recognized summer camp for adolescents and teens who stutter. She has participated in research projects in the areas of early intervention, interprofessional education, and transdisciplinary collaboration. Ann is passionate about implementing evidence-based practice into all of her sessions, as well as educating and coaching families in order to facilitate the child’s growth beyond the walls of the therapy clinic.
Ann has received extensive, specialized training in the following: Orton-Gillingham approach to literacy, Natural Language Acquisition (NLA) framework for gestalt language processors, Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC) for childhood apraxia of speech (CAS), DIRFloortime®, and the Eleven Basic Principles and Five Areas of Focus of Communicative Competence for individuals who stutter. Additional areas of interest and clinical expertise include: phonological and articulation delays/disorders, early language acquisition, and selective mutism. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, cycling, downhill skiing, hiking, reading, knitting, listening to records, and playing board games with friends.
