Karyn earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire and her master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. In undergrad, Karyn worked on an Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC) research project that sparked her passion for working with children with complex communication needs. She further developed her skills by working as a graduate assistant in the AAC lab at UWSP and worked with clinicians and families to match their needs with AAC devices. She has presented at the state and national level that supported both families and SLPs. Karyn worked in the Green Bay Area Public Schools for 1 year before moving to Virginia. There, she worked in the schools for 3 years. Karyn has experience working with clients from ages 1-21. She is passionate about providing play-based, community-based and naturalistic therapy opportunities. Karyn loves including literacy, games and play within her sessions. When she is not at CI, Karyn loves to be outdoors, go on hikes with her husband and dog, and cheer on the Packers. She is also an avid thrifter and has a micro reselling business.
